“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Some of us don't know how to rest without feeling guilty about it.
We treat exhaustion like a badge of honor, as if burning out proves we love God more. But Jesus never asked you to prove your devotion by destroying yourself. His invitation wasn't “come and strive harder” — it was “come and rest.”
Rest is not laziness. Rest is trust. It's the quiet declaration that the world — and the ministry, and the family, and all of it — does not rest on your shoulders. It rests on His.
This week, I want to challenge you: stop apologizing for needing a pause. Take the nap. Take the walk. Sit with the Lord with no agenda and no audience. The work will still be there. But you'll return to it as a rested daughter, not a running-on-empty servant.
Even Jesus withdrew to quiet places. You're allowed to do the same.
🤲 A Prayer
Jesus, I come to You weary. Teach me to rest without guilt and to trust You with what I cannot carry. Restore my soul this week. Amen.
